Licensed psychologist wanted for student health services in Umeå municipality

The student health services in preschool and primary school work in teams consisting of school nurses, school counselors, school psychologists, special educators, and principals. We work based on the intentions of the new school law. The student health services primarily work in a health-promoting and preventive manner, at the individual, group, and organizational levels, to support students towards educational goals.

We are now looking for a licensed psychologist to join our operations!

Your tasks

You will work as a school psychologist within the geographical team of student health services. You will be responsible for specific school units and work together in a cross-professional team led by the school principal. You will work at the organizational, group, and individual levels. You will work with primary school students, from preschool to grade 9.

The role of the school psychologist involves being part of the school's cross-professional student health team and primarily working with promoting and preventive measures that contribute to creating environments that promote students' learning, development, and health.

The role of the school psychologist includes:

• Providing psychological expertise as support in educational work and in the overall planning of student health services
• Conducting psychological assessments and evaluations of students, groups, and organizations on behalf of the principal to contribute psychological knowledge about students' learning conditions and support needs
• Providing guidance and consultation to other school staff
• Contributing knowledge about mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression, as well as providing supportive conversations with students, guardians, and educators
• Providing psychological knowledge about protective and risk factors for students' health, learning, and development, for example through training on mental health and illness
• Utilizing knowledge about students' mental health in the broader work of student health services

About you

We are looking for a licensed psychologist with experience working with children and young people. Experience as a school psychologist and/or other equivalent experience is an advantage. We also appreciate experience in health-promoting and preventive measures as well as MI.

It is important that you have a holistic perspective on children's learning and development. You must have the ability to create good relationships between children, young people, and adults, as well as between different authorities or actors such as schools, foster homes, social services, etc. You see great value in working together with various professional competencies. We are looking for someone who is attentive, clear, and communicative. Personal suitability is highly valued.

Travel is included in the position, so you must have a B driver's license.

Due to the law on suitability checks, a police record extract must be presented upon employment.
